So Much For Posting Every Week

Yeah, yeah, I know .... I really am hopeless at this sort of thing.  And I do know I said I'd post something every week....... thankfully I have a great friend who ever so gently reminds me that  I haven't posted anything for a while (Cheers Laureen!!!).

Thought I'd upload a few photos I took at a wedding shoot I did a few weeks ago.  It was culturally different and I really enjoyed the experience for its uniqueness.  Thanks Aya and Ahmed for letting me photograph your special day.
This blog always does wacky things to the colours in my photos - they never seem to be as vibrant as I see them on my monitor - so forgive them if they look a bit odd.

Some More Photos From Fraser

Here are a few more photos from our Fraser Island Holiday.

This One is For Laureen!!

Sorry buddy for not blogging sooner.  You know I am absolutely hopeless when it comes to these things.  Here are just some of the photos from our Fraser Island holiday.  It brought back sooooo many memories of our time with you there - especially fishing off the jetty.
We ventured a bit further this time and found some lakes and roads we haven't travelled on before.  One of our favourites was called lake Boomanjin which had the most magnificent coloured waters and a beautiful drive (though very bumpy) through rainforest to get there.
As with all things wonderful our holiday went by too quickly and here we are at home again getting slowly back into our daily grind.
Hope you enjoy the photos.

Night Photography

Bren and I went out on our monthly date night last Friday. We went for dinner to a cool little bar/lounge/restaurant in Broadbeach and enjoyed the peace and quiet that comes when the children are tucked up in bed!!!
We then went and braved the cool night air and elements (rain) and tried to take a few shots of Broadbeach by night. Unfortunately the weather was against us and just as we were setting up a storm decided to grace us with its presence. The rain just kept getting heavier and heavier and we eventually (well within 10 minutes) decided to give up.
I got a few interesting shots though.
The colours that come out from lights at slow shutter speeds are really interesting and eery.
We will have to try our luck again another night!! This time when there isn't a nasty low pressure system menacing the coastline.

Festival of Light - Coomera

Seth's Lantern

Bonfire by the Lake

Pyramid Lanterns made by Local School Kids

Parade Preparations - love the light!!!

Last night Bren, the boys and I went to a local event called the Festival of Light. It is an annual event where local community groups make lanterns with schools in the area and then have a light parade at dusk around a lake. Seth made a star lantern this year at Kindy and so we decided to check the event out. It far exceeded our expectations! The atmosphere was beautiful with lots of free events for the kids (face painting, jumping castle, pony rides, petting zoo, bubbles, dancing displays) and a really awesome live band. The lanterns the older children made were simply elegant and looked stunning when lit.

The lake was decorated with huge (and I mean huge) lanterns of different objects (lions, fish, flying pigs, flowers, etc) which glowed softly.

I took my camera (of course) but forgot to take the tripod (duh!!). I did however manage to get some shots which I think represent the atmosphere of the event really well. They may not be technically perfect but I like the artistic perspective they portray.

We are going to head down to Lismore in a few weeks time to another lantern parade which is apparently on a much grander scale than the one we went to last night. This time I WILL be taking my tripod!!!

Ooops!  Its been a close to two weeks since my last post - so I've already broken my promise to blog at least once a week.  However I did two posts a while back so I guess that means I'm still on track!!
The photos posted are of the prawns and crab Bren caught last week.  Bren hasn't been out in the boat for about 3 months so he made the most of a couple of days out on the water.  The prawns were divine - sweet, fresh and very tasty.  The crab was as good.  I made some garlic prawns that were just awesome and we ate fresh seafood for a couple of days running - how decadent!  The only sour note was finding out how much they cost per kilo when we worked out how much the fuel cost to go hunting and gathering (try $60/kg!!!!!!) OUCH.  They were VERY good though - and I haven't seen Bren enjoy food that much for a long time - he looked like the cat who ate the canary!!

EASTER WEEKEND

What are you dreaming about Zac?

(Will have to photoshop the stick out of Wyatt's head!!)
How hard is it to photograph 6 boys - the majority of which are under 8!!!

Thanks for sitting so still Griff!!

Watch out for the tongue!!!!

A few photos from our Easter Weekend Mini holiday.  Got to spend some good quality fun time with Lauren and Brad and their boys and Pete and her boys.  It was boys all round.  They had a blast swimming, riding their bikes, playing "footyball" (Griff) feeding the cows and eating chocolate!!!  The Easter Bunny did not disappoint either - this year the request was for gifts rather than chocolate.  Our children are becoming quite savvy when it comes to the value of things and the temporal nature of chocolate!!!

Easter Bonnet

This is Caleb's 3rd Easter Bonnet but the first where he has been the artistic director.
He even drew a plan (his idea) before he began so that he knew what it was going to look like and the materials he would need.
It took him a few hours to construct and he put soooo much thought into how it was going to look.  I think he particularly tried to add as many chocolate eggs as he could!
Unfortunately neither Bren or I will be able to attend his parade as we are both working :(
Bren  (and this will be one for the blog) is actually going to participate in his own parade - as a red legged, yellow breasted chicken.  I'll be asking for evidence to include in a future blog..... he he he....
I love your hat design Caleb - you did a great job!!!

A few more photos....

Just a few more shots to share which I've taken recently.  I know there are more of Seth - mostly because he is home with me more and the poor child is subjected to a camera lens in his face more times than he'd probably like.  He does however get a great thrill from seeing himself on the computer screen and loves to sit and watch slideshows of photos I've taken.

The bowl of fruit I was talking about

Just for comparison's sake I've uploaded the bowl of fruit I was talking about.
You must agree that Seth is so much cuter!!!!

We're Ba-aaack!!

Hello cyberspace.  Finally I've got my bum into gear and 1. found my username and password for this thing ; 2.decided it was about time we started documenting our lives for all or no-one to see and 3. started typing.  One of the biggest factors in restarting the blog was the aquisition of my new MacBook.  I am falling in love with this machine.  It is beautiful to look at (all white and slimlined) it is delicious to type on (I particularly enjoy the sound the keys make as I type on the keyboard) and it is so easy to use.  Now if I could just calibrate the screen then I will be totally smitten.  Sorry PC you're out the door baby!
I shall attempt to write at least once a week.  This is not a promise - nay tis just a goal.
The photo I've uploaded is one I took a few weeks ago.  I was practicing bouncing my speedlight off the wall to create indirect light -Seth was engrossed in a tv show at the time so I got to practice on a non-moving subject.  He is so much cuter than a bowl of fruit don't you think?
